WARDOGS in-game alert: LOGIN ERROR — You have been logged out
The in-game alert when the servers drop you.

Is it broken for you? Tap what is failing

One tap, no account. Player reports are the only signal anyone outside BULKHEAD has, so your tap is what tells the next player whether the fault is theirs or the servers'.

Could not send the report. Try again in a moment.

Your report is anonymous. We keep the category and the time. Your IP address is never stored: it is hashed with a secret and today's date so one person cannot file fifty reports, and the hash cannot be reversed or matched to you tomorrow.

Steam does not publish a player count for WARDOGS yet: the store app is unreleased until Early Access on 10 September 2026. The number fills in by itself once Steam starts reporting it.

Source: Steam GetNumberOfCurrentPlayers, refreshed every 60 s.

It does not probe the servers. Nobody outside BULKHEAD can: the backend is certificate-pinned and there is no public status endpoint. It aggregates player problem-reports — taps on this page and other community trackers — counting each person once per hour, and sets that next to the Steam player count. Reports climbing while the player count falls is an outage. Reports flat while thousands play means the fault is at your end.

The verdict at the top turns amber at 3 different players in 15 minutes and red at 6. An hour with 6 or more different players reporting is logged as an incident below.

Maintenance, queues and full servers

Three different things get called "WARDOGS is down", and only one of them is an outage. They draw different shapes on the chart above, which is the quickest way to tell them apart.

Is WARDOGS down for maintenance today?

BULKHEAD has not published a maintenance schedule or a status page for WARDOGS, and we will not invent one. What is predictable is the pattern: Early Access patches usually ship with a short downtime, and a game that launches on 10 September will have patch days in its first weeks. Planned maintenance looks different from a failure here. Reports rise steadily and stay level for the length of the window, because everyone hits the same wall at once and keeps hitting it. A real outage spikes in one hour and then decays as people give up.

A login queue is not an outage

If WARDOGS queues players at capacity, this page will show it as a flat Steam player count with matchmaking reports climbing while server-connection reports stay low. That combination means the servers are up and full. Waiting is the only fix, and verifying files, reinstalling or restarting your router changes nothing. BULKHEAD named the login queue, server scaling and the server browser as the things Closed Beta 02 exists to stress, so a queue during the beta is the test working rather than failing.

When there is no service to be down

Closed Beta 02 runs from 18:00 UTC on Thursday 3 September 2026 to 08:00 UTC on Sunday 6 September, and Early Access opens on 10 September. Outside those windows there is nothing to connect to, and an empty server browser is expected. The first hours of each window are when this page earns its keep: queues, capacity limits and day-one patches all land at the same time.

If it is only broken for you

Most "is it down" moments are not outages. Work down this list before blaming the servers. It is ordered by how often each step turns out to be the answer, not by how easy it is.

  1. Check the report count firstIt takes two seconds and usually answers the question. A flat count means other people are playing fine and the rest of this list is worth your time. A spike means it is not you, and nothing below will help.
  2. Verify the game filesIn Steam, right-click WARDOGS, then Properties, Installed Files, Verify integrity of game files. A partial patch is the most common cause of a game that launches and then fails to connect, and it is invisible otherwise. It is also the first thing support will ask for. The most common launch error during the beta, code 1147405308, is a version mismatch that this step clears.
  3. Restart the whole chain, in orderGame, then Steam, then router. Almost everyone does the first and skips the third. A stale NAT table on a router that has been up for weeks produces exactly the symptom people report as "servers down": the client connects, then times out joining a match.
  4. Turn off the VPNA VPN breaks matchmaking far more often than it fixes anything. So does a strict NAT type, and so does a campus or office network that blocks the UDP ports a game server needs. If you are on a network you do not administer, that is the likely answer.
  5. Read the message on screen"Connection to server lost" means the client reached a server and then lost it: the network path works and something further along broke. If reports here are climbing at the same time, stop. It is the servers. If they are flat, verify files and restart the chain.
  6. Then treat it as a crash, not an outageIf the game starts and dies rather than failing to connect, the cause is local: usually graphics drivers, overlay software or an overclock that is stable everywhere else. WARDOGS runs 100 players on a destructible map, which is the hardest case for an unstable GPU. Drop the overclock, close overlays, update the driver.

Where BULKHEAD announces outages

There is no official WARDOGS status page. When something is genuinely broken it is announced in two places and nowhere else:

Anything that lands in either about downtime we fold into the patch notes and news page with a date and a source link, so it is still findable after it has scrolled off.

Questions

Is WARDOGS down right now?

Look at the verdict at the top of this page. It counts different players who reported a problem in the last 15 minutes, so repeat taps from one person do not inflate it, and it refreshes every minute.

Is WARDOGS down today, or is it just me?

Check the two numbers at the top. If reports are flat and the Steam player count is normal, other people are playing and the problem is at your end: work down the checklist on this page. If reports spike and the player count drops together, it is not you, and nothing you do locally will fix it.

Is WARDOGS down for maintenance?

BULKHEAD has not published a maintenance schedule or window for WARDOGS. Early Access patches usually come with a short downtime, and when one is announced it goes to the Steam news hub. On this page planned maintenance climbs slowly and stays flat, rather than spiking in one hour.

Is there a WARDOGS login queue?

BULKHEAD has said Closed Beta 02 is partly a test of the login queue and server scaling, so a queue during the beta is expected. A queue looks like a flat player count with matchmaking reports rising. The servers are up and full, not down, and waiting is the only fix.

Why does WARDOGS say "connection to server lost"?

That message means the client reached a server and then lost it, which is different from failing to connect at all. If the report count here is flat it is almost always local: verify the game files in Steam, restart your router and drop any VPN. If reports are climbing, it is the servers and there is nothing to fix at your end.

Does BULKHEAD publish an official server status page?

No. There is no status endpoint or status page for WARDOGS, which is why community trackers exist for this genre at all. The nearest official signals are the Steam news hub and the Steam community discussions, both of which carry announcements rather than live status.

How does this tracker know?

It does not measure the servers. Nobody outside BULKHEAD can, because the backend is certificate-pinned and publishes nothing. It aggregates player reports across community trackers, each person counted once per hour, and shows the Steam concurrent player count beside it, which falls sharply during a real outage. Two weak signals that agree are worth more than either alone.

Is "War Dogs" the same game?

Yes. WARDOGS is often written as two words and this page covers both spellings. War Dogs is also a 2016 film, which is what most two-word search results are about. The game is by BULKHEAD, published by Team17, and is app 1867240 on Steam.

Incident history

Logged automatically from player reports over the last 30 days. An incident is a run of hours with at least six different players reporting in each, the same bar the verdict at the top uses. Repeat taps from one person count once an hour, so no single frustrated player can put an incident on this list.
