What Is WARDOGS?

WARDOGS is a large-scale tactical FPS from UK developer BULKHEAD, published by Team17 and launching into Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026. Up to 100 players across three mercenary factions — Lonestar, Manticore, and Valkyra — battle for a massive King of the Hill-style Control Zone, with the first team to 100 points taking the match.

What sets WARDOGS apart is its persistent cash economy: every weapon, magazine, bandage, and vehicle is bought with cash that carries over between matches. Combined with Tarkov-style ammo management, six class progression tracks, combined-arms vehicle warfare, and buildable forward operating bases, every life becomes a risk-versus-reward decision. New to the game? Start with our WARDOGS Beginner's Guide covering the Control Zone, tower codes, starter loadouts, and how to keep your bankroll growing.

WARDOGS FAQ

Quick answers about BULKHEAD's tactical shooter

When does WARDOGS release?

WARDOGS enters Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026 at $39.99 for the standard edition. Closed beta weekends run before launch, and pre-ordering guarantees beta access.

Is WARDOGS like Battlefield?

It shares Battlefield's large-scale combined-arms battles, but adds three-team warfare, a persistent cash economy where gear carries real cost, Tarkov-style magazine management, and buildable FOBs. It plays slower and more deliberately than Battlefield - rushing in Call of Duty-style usually ends badly.

How does a match of WARDOGS work?

Three factions of ~33 players fight for the Control Zone. Whichever team has the most players inside when the score tick fills earns a point; first to 100 wins. A smaller moving Hot Zone makes players count double, and hackable towers let teams drag the Hot Zone to fortified positions.

Are there classes in WARDOGS?

There are no locked classes. Six progression tracks - Assault, Medic, Support, Recon, Driver, and Pilot - unlock new gear as you earn XP with related actions, but you can freely mix equipment from any track. See our beginner's guide for the full breakdown.
